The Blue Mountains, Kangaroos, Wallabies and Koalas!

Day two saw me off on a tour of the Blue Mountains.  They are so named because the they are covered in eucalyptus and thus look blue in the distance.

Let me tell you that once you are away from the coast it is brown, brown, brown.  A very harsh, arid environment only for the hearty.  It's either sandstone or brown trees.

Our first stop was the Three Sisters and a view of the Blue Mountains.

It was followed by a presentation by the native aborigines.  It reminded me of Cherokee, NC where the locals dress as Indians and do a dance next to the souvenir stand.  Oh well, everyone has to make a living.

Then we rode the cable car down to their native rain forest.

I took this picture of a flower in a nearby village because frankly there are so few of them I was happy to see it.  Like I said it is mainly a brown landscape.

The highlight of the day was a visit to Ferndale Animal Sanctuary.  Although sad to see many of birds caged, lots of the animals roam freely.

On our way home we drove through the Olympic area that was held in 2000.

And now it's time to say good bye to Sydney!
