Hong Kong, the Jewel of Asia

Everyone loves Hong Kong and I can see why.  It is a beautiful city, on the water, gorgeous buildings, lots of green space, very clean and modern.  It is where the East meets West.

We took a best of Hong Kong tour for the entire day.

We traveled throughout the city and rode on every conceivable mode of transportation: bus, Asian river cruise boat, tram and sampan.

We left early for a river cruise that toured the waterfront.  Our ship was docked right downtown...

The weather cleared and we rode through this magnificent city....

This is the American Embassy.  They added the fence after 9/11........

Then it was off to the high rent district where property goes for $2000 a square foot where the high rises overlook the bay......

The Chinese are very serious about feng sui and this building has a several story hole built into it so the dragon can go through the building and find its way to the bay.

Of course we had to do some shopping at the local street market that was also in the neighborhood.......

Then we rode a tram to the top of the mountain that overlooks the city.  The incline was so steep that the buildings looked like they were leaning....

However the views were spectacular......

Then it was off to ride our sampans, a truly unique experience.  These people live on their boats and we toured their small city on water.....

This must be the dry dock facilities....

And this is the upscale part of the neighborhood living side by side......

After returning home we were able to see how the city lights up at night.  Every night they have a laser light show on the waterfront which was spectacular but very hard for my cheap camera to catch.

This is one place that I would come back to.....if I could afford it!
