Here is the train and all the people.....
Bonnie gave us instructions that it took an hour to reach the summit, a half hour to vie and an hour back. Whatever you do, don't miss the train since it took a few hours to walk back down. So off we went. We went up.....
Up, up, up.......
Many people hike the mountains. Here are the trails and hikers. Me, I'm a train person!
And up, up, up......
And finally up to the top. The view was spectacular but the camera did not fare as well.
So we did our little tour at the top and as instructed Carolyn and I went back to the train in time for departure. All the people loaded up but no Bonnie. We looked and looked then the conductor locked us in. Still no Bonnie. You guessed it, Bonnie missed the train. Here is where Bonnie was supposed to be sitting......
And here is the engineer pulling away........
To tell the truth, Carolyn and I laughed ourselves sick all the way down. We knew she would talk her way back on another train and she actually found out a local secret. A conductor who sympathetically gave her a ride back down told her that the an unpublicized stop of the Olympic flame was scheduled for the following day. They were taking it to the highest point in the UK. The press was arriving at 7:30 and the flame was going up at 8:30. Bonnie and Carolyn hot footed down there the next morning and had their 15 seconds of fame carrying the Olympic torch!
Now there's a happy ending.
