Cortona, Beautiful Medieval Hill Town

We arrived into Cortona via the Arezzo train station and our driver Enzo.  We had rented a 4 bedroom house called Moses Palace.  It is an apt name given that this place is HUGE.

Here is our entry......

Living room..........

With it's beautiful ceiling!

Kitchen.......

A Bathroom.......

Interior Foyer  (with skylight, artwork and flowers)......

View from the Foyer........

View from my room..........

And a lot of steps.............

Cortona is a beautiful hill town topped by the Medici Fortress.  It is, however, uphill a lot of the way which will wear you out.  Therefore every excursion to the store is well planned.  Trust me, you would be in great shape if you stayed here for 3 months.

The views are stunning and the town appears to have stopped in time given that most of it was built in the 14th and 15th century including our rental.  Lake Trasimeno is in the distance which was the site of Rome's massive military defeat by Hannibal after he crossed the Alps.

Our plan is to stay here for a week with excursions with a private driver to the other famous towns located in the Valdichiana and Valdiorcia.
